Type ~ This is
a good place to start. Think about what your favorite drink is, or
at least what you think you will be drinking from these. The goblets,
for example, would not hold very much beer. Most beer drinkers want
a larger cup for this. Simple? Of course it is! You should also remember
that the steins will allow for larger, and therefore, more impressive
and detailed artwork if thats what you want.

Shape/design ~ This
comes next. Look over all the different shapes on the other pages,
and decide which one appeals to you. Remember, if you like some parts
of one and different parts of another...let us know. Custom work is
always a possibility! If its for someone else, and youre
not sure which one they would like, we have found that the one that
you like will probably be their favorite, too.
If they dont like your choice, you can exchange it for a different style, no problem! (except those items with custom artwork) |
Artwork (an extra!)
~ This is the fun part. Think of an image,
any image. If you can come up with a drawing or a photo, the chances
are quite good that it can be woodburned directly onto your item.
If you don't have any of these, dont worry! We can use your
idea to come up with the artwork for you. (there may be a small fee
for developing your artwork in this case, but this is rare) Once we
come up with the artwork, we can place it in a private area of this
web site for your approval. This allows you to request changes if
you wish.
Color? If youre having artwork put on your item, you should consider having it done in color. This is a permanent color that will not fade, even in sunlight. We feel so strongly about the quality of the pigments we use, we will replace the entire item if the colors should ever fade. |
Woods ~ An important
choice. I usually use the following for the goblets: Maple, Tiger
Maple, Birds eye Maple, Red Maple, Black Walnut, Flame Birch,
and Cherry.
For the steins I usually have only Cherry, or Tiger Maple. In the near future, I hope to provide the option of laminated woods for these as well. (wood choices are subject to change without notice/ ask about availability) The only wood that may not look good with woodburned artwork is the Black Walnut, unless you add color to the design. The Cherry wood will darken as it gets older, eventually achieving a look of fine old furniture. All the other woods will stay the same color for a very long time to come. If you dont see a wood type that you are interested in, let me know. I will not use any exotic woods in my work. Please dont even ask. Think of it this way; this sort of tree grows in places that are full of insects that would love to eat it. And yet they dont. Why? Most of these trees have developed toxins that harm the insects if they try! While this wood may be fine for use as a walking stick, or maybe a chess set, do you really want to drink from this? (exotics: bubinga, purpleheart, etc.) |
Item Prices ~ Ill

simply. Artwork is temporarily unavailable. Please write

Artwork Prices ~ For the artwork seen on these pages, here are some guidelines. The price includes the item and the color artwork. The two Cherry goblets with the white roses from the artwork page, sell for $55.00 each. The wrapdragon stein also from the artwork page, sells for $120.00 without monogram. (add $15.00 for one fancy initial). Add color to any artwork for an additional 15% of the total. How much will your custom artwork cost? This varies too much to pin an exact number on it. However, if you let us know what you need, we will be happy to figure out a price for you as soon as possible. Contact us for further details. Artwork is temporarily unavailable.
